If she has an antivirus program, what is the name and version number, and does that antivirus program come bundled with a third-party firewall?

Are the error messages being displayed by Windows Mail or her antivirus program? I use Norton Security and the wording of that error message sounds like a Norton error I've seen before. It's always possible her antivirus has a buggy spam filter or firewall rule that started causing problems. That setting in Norton is at Settings Antivirus Scans and Risks Email Antivirus Scan , but I wouldn't turn off any scanning of outgoing e-mails in her antivirus software yet just in case her system is infected with undetected malware and her e-mail scanning is preventing her from transmitting a virus or trojan via outgoing e-mails.

My first suggestion would be to run a Full System Scan with her antivirus. If that comes up clean post back and I'll provide instructions for performing a second-opinion scan with Malwarebytes Free , since you will have to download a special installer for an older Malwarebytes v3.
