Bentley Descartes - Raster Editing Raster Editing Bentley Descartes provides many functions for modifying the pixels' value of a raster, of any pixel type, provided that the file format used to store the raster is supported in write mode.
Touch-up The Touch-up tools are use to modify the content of pixels with tools which emulate physical brushes and erasers. Paint The Paint tool allows the user to paint on the image as if was painting with a brush on a physical canvas.
Method : Allow the user to chose the methods, area or one of the three types of brush. Area : Only available when the method chosen is area, it lets the user specify the type of area to use. Paint Mask : For choosing a mask that will work has a stencil when painting. This is only available when using the method Area. Which Paint Method? The basic shape of the three types of brush are shown below. Brush Method vs Area method The brush method is useful when you have to do small touch-up to complex area while the area method is more useful when painting big area of simple shape.
The brush method required more dexterity than the area method and it is advised when using the brush method to divide a long brushing operation to many small ones to ensure that if you have to undo your last brush operation you will have only a small area to re-brush.
You cannot use mask with the brush method. Erase The Erase tool is quite similar the to Paint tool except that the color is always fix to black and no color mask can be chosen. Cleanup The Cleanup tool allows the user to remove small aggregate of pixels of different color than the surrounding pixels.
Size : Specify the size of the speckle or hole size to be removed in working units. Productivity Tip : Use the yellow ruler to measure directly on the screen the size of the speckle you want to remove.
Method : Use to determine if you want to remove speckle or hole. Area : Specify the area that needs to be cleanup. Binary Tip : For binary images, the image's background color is automatically used to remove the speckles and the foreground color for filling the hole. Paint Mask: For choosing a mask that will work has a stencil when painting.
Flood The flood tool allows use to fill an empty area with just one click. Combine The combine tool can be used to combine the foreground data of two binary images together and save the result in a destination binary image. Area : The type of area to be used for selecting the overlapping region to be combined. Source 1 : The first binary image used for the combine operation.
Source 2 : The second binary image used for the combine operation. Destination : The destination binary image that is going to contain the combine operation result.
Work in Image Plane Examples This section presents an example for each different combine type available. If you figured out a way, then do let us know in the comments section. KVEC is another good and free raster to vector converter software. It supports some of the most commonly used raster image formats for vector conversion. Moreover, you can use it for conversion of raster images to single color vectors or colorful vectors.
There are various conversion parameters that you can set under Parameter Settings option. You can also use it to convert a vector to another vector format. After loading an image for conversion, open the Parameter Settings option. Here, you will find 3 settings tab, where you can set parameters regarding output format, line width, color quantization, fill type, vectorizing colors, cross-hatching, transparency, and more. Click on the Go option to process the conversion. The conversion takes place in background, and to view the output, click on the Show Result option.
The absence of real time preview makes this raster to vector converter software a little difficult to use, as you cannot view changes while altering parameters. WinTopo provides one touch vectorization option to convert raster images to vector.
It is suitable for conversion of simple images of text, logos, or shapes to vector. Once you have loaded an image, simply click on One touch vectorization option. This traces the structure of loaded image with lines. These lines are visible on the interface.
If the tracing is not satisfactory, you can go to one touch vectorization settings to make some changes. In the settings popup, you can select thinning method, set edge detection parameters, and change vector extraction settings. CR8tracer lets you convert raster to vector, but it comes with a limitation. You can only convert BMP to vector using this freeware. So, if most of your conversions are going to be bitmap to vector, then you can go with this software to convert raster to vector, free of cost.
Remember, you can only convert a raster to vector in a single color. The sad thing about this raster to vector converter is the absence of preview option. You will have to save the vector to see how it looks. You can use any SVG viewer for that. According to the output rendered, you can make changes to conversion parameters from the Options menu. You can make changes to output vector by tweaking Output options and Tracing options, which is a bit difficult because of the absence of preview.
Its totally based on hit and trial method. Use the converted vector file when satisfied with the result. Home Page.
