Petsmarts employee handbook

The schedule is flexible. I learned a variety of skills needed for the store to be successful. The workplace and culture is fantastic. The hardest part of the job was when I tried to work as a groomer. I was not successful at that so the manager found what I was successful at. The most enjoyable part of the job was the interaction with customers.

You will never satisfy their expectations. Cons Management doesn't care Left in scratches, bites, and tears People don't last more than 2 months. Yes No. Loved my coworkers but it was too stressful for lack of pay. I really enjoyed my coworkers and working with animals, but there was a lot of miscommunication in the beginning because all the managers are so stressed out and there was such a high turn over rate so you were kinda left on your own.

The company lacked healthy boundaries, I did not enjoy getting regular text messages asking me to work overtime and then the guilt tripping afterwards. The management has unrealistic expectations and don't understand the stress groomers go through, they are very understaffed and you have a quota to meet with the amount of dogs you have to take and ontop of that you must take walk ins for nails trims, deal with a painfully slow printer, back pain, rude clients, dog bites and you must answer the phone and no you are not allowed to put someone on hold too long or else the managers will come in and yell at you and they will also yell at you for being too slow with your scheduled dogs and you are also not allowed to sit at all.

Pros Great staff, in store discounts, opportunities for advancement. Cons Lack of boundaries, understaffed, low pay. Yes There are 1 helpful reviews 1 No. I went through grooming training and was taught the basics but management didn't have the time to train me and help me further my skills so I pretty much had to teach myself. Managers picked favorites so your schedule wasn't guaranteed and appointments you scheduled for yourself would get moved around to give other groomers more commission.

There were days when I would be there for 8 hours with no appointments and then I would constantly be told I needed to take more appointments, it was a never ending cycle and management always screwed you over.

Pros Benefits. Cons Awful management. Customers even treated me awful. Pros dogs. Cons poor management. Share your experience Let job seekers know what it's like to work at your company. A great place to work with opportunity for advancement. I really enjoyed my time at PetSmart. I was challenged, not just by the position, but also by learning how to deal with all sorts of people - customers and coworkers alike.

There was never a want for things to keep a person busy, and my coworkers were really fun to work with. My management also had an open door policy, so at the least I knew I was always heard. Corporate, however, is a different story. Individual stores have unique individual needs and it always felt like the higher ups created cookie cutter policies that in theory were suppose to work for everyone. They would never send us enough hours to accomplish our jobs well, and some departments would struggle as a result.

Overall, I walked away from every shift feeling very rewarded and would definitely recommend as a good entry level job. It was an okay place to work. I did not convert from contractor to permanent by choice. Pay rate was not very good as a perm employee.

The permanent employees always worked longer days and I had to leave before them because they would not pay OT. Pros Not much, it was a job, nothing free. I think they have a discount at the retail stores. Cons I never felt good about my job at the end of the day, Frustrating as a contractor.

Overall was a good place to work. Pay was good. Unfortunately they put a lot of responsibility on people. The benefits were good, pay is good. Yes No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1. Some Good people obviously. Overworked and underpaid. Overall the company needs to do better. You may not make, for example, a commission, a rebate, a kickback,.
