Christmas party gift wrap game
You can use just about any treat that will fit inside the ball, but you might want to stick with non-breakable gifts. Kids often enjoy small prizes like party favors, coloring books, candy, noisemakers, dollar store trinkets, colorful socks or mittens, coins or dollar bill and small but desirable toys. For adults, consider including scratch-off lottery tickets, lip balms, Tic Tacs, fun-sized candies, mini hand sanitizers or lotions, bath bombs, movie passes, tiny bottles of alcohol or cocktails, and gift cards.
During the holidays, you can also include holiday-themed gifts, like cozy socks, candy canes, earmuffs, ornaments, holiday chocolates, non-breakable ornaments, holiday accessories and hot chocolate packets in your Saran Wrap gift ball. When wrapping your ball, start with the largest or most expensive gift first, like higher dollar gift cards or cash. Wrap the gift in a few layers of plastic wrap to get the ball started.
Roll each section of the wrap in the opposite direction as the last to keep things interesting. As you wrap your ball, smooth it down to keep the layers close and to maintain the desired shape. Save the least expensive gifts, like dollar bills or fun-sized candies, for the outside layers. This game is going to get loud. Players are going to be laughing, chatting and maybe even squealing as the ball is unwrapped and passed around.
Adding music to the mix can make things more enjoyable all around and keep the mood light and fun. I used about feet of plastic wrap , or about half of a foodservice roll of plastic wrap that was feet long. For reference, we played the saran wrap game with 10 people.
Once the ball reaches the size that you want, or once all of your prizes have been wrapped up, tear the plastic wrap and press it down into place so that the end is difficult to find. Playing the plastic wrap ball game is super easy, making it an awesome Christmas game to play for the entire family! Even my niece and nephew who were just 4 and 6 at the time had a blast playing this game! So our family sat in a circle starting with the youngest person and ending with the oldest person. Pass the Saran wrap ball to the first player, and pass the two dice to the player that will go second.
If you are playing on carpet, you may also want to use a large plate or cookie sheet to make rolling the dice easier. Plus, a cookie sheet has taller sides to prevent the dice from rolling away. The game starts with player 2 rolling the two dice repeatedly until the dice land on doubles so both dice show the same number.
While player 2 is rolling the dice, player 1 is unwrapping the plastic prize ball as fast as possible to get to the prizes inside. Once player 2 rolls doubles, then the prize ball gets passed to player 2 and the two dice get passed to player 3. Someone should do a countdown 3… 2… 1… GO! The game continues with the prize ball and the dice being passed around the circle until the ball is completely unwrapped and there are no prizes left. For me, the hardest part of making my plastic wrap ball was coming up with prize ideas.
I created my Saran Wrap ball game to be played with both adults and kids, so I wanted to include prizes that would appeal to a variety of age groups. To come up with ideas for what to put in my plastic wrap ball game for adults, I basically just roamed the aisles of Dollar Tree. Set Up: Set up three stations. The first station will have a pile of gifts and boxes, the second will have wrapping paper and scissors and the last station will have the rolls of tape.
How to Play: There are three stations and three players per team. Put one player from each team at each station. When the host yells go, the first player at station one chooses a gift and puts it into a box. The player then grabs some wrapping paper and cuts it to size before delivering the box and paper to the third player at station three.
The last player on the team tapes the wrapping paper to the box. Winner: The winner is the team who finished first. Award points instead of having the speediest team win. Give points for speed, but also for neatness, appropriate size box per gift, enough paper to cover the whole box, etc.
